Why I’m building a long-term career at the intersection of impact investing and deep tech VC 🚀🌎✨

Updated: Sep 23, 2025

When I started working in science and impact, I didn’t think I’d end up in venture capital. But over time, it became clear: the biggest breakthroughs in healthcare 💊, climate 🌱, biotech 🧬, and agriculture 🌾 won’t scale without the right capital and the right builders behind it.

Impact investing is key to driving real change at scale, especially in regions like Latin America that face urgent challenges and vast opportunities. That’s why I’ve chosen to build a long-term career at the intersection of deep tech venture building and impact investment.

There’s a myth that deep tech is “too early” or “too hard” for our region. I’ve found the opposite: Latin America has the scientific talent, the unmet needs, and the urgency to lead if we’re willing to back people solving real problems with real tech.

For this, we also need to build the right kind of venture capital. One that’s more technical, more diverse, and more grounded in solving problems than just chasing trends and betting on the power law to work in order to get their returns. Founders working on hard science need partners who actually understand what they’re building and why it matters.

And founders, in turn, need to better understand how to speak to investors, build real profitable businesses with quantifiable impact, and navigate the venture landscape without diluting their vision.

I’m here to do exactly that.

🧪 To back scientists as founders

🌎 To help spin out technologies from labs and into the field

🔧 To support tech solutions that actually are great solutions (no tech push!)

📈 And to show that you don’t have to compromise returns to drive impact

Deep tech in LatAm isn’t risky. It’s necessary.
